Breakthrough for BUCT: Three First-Author Papers Accepted at AOM 2025
The School of Humanities and Law at Beijing University of Chemical Technology has achieved a historic milestone with three research papers—authored by faculty members Yao Siyu, Zhang Fan, and Gong Xiaochen—accepted for presentation at the 2025 Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting, one of the world’s leading conferences in the field of management. This marks the first time that the university’s public administration discipline has had three first-author papers simultaneously accepted by a top-tier international conference. This achievement highlights the faculty’s expertise in frontier academic research, reflects the school’s significant progress in academic innovation and scholarly output, and demonstrates the global visibility and engagement of our public administration faculty on the international stage.
Associate Professor Yao Siyu’s paper, “Unveiling the Double-Edged Sword: How Academic Entrepreneurship Impacts Academic Performance,” has been accepted for presentation in the Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) division at the 2025 Academy of Management Annual Meeting. The study introduces an innovative “Evolutionary Cube Model of Academic Entrepreneurship,” which dynamically explores the dual effects of academic entrepreneurship on academic performance. Addressing a long-standing debate in the field, the research provides micro-level quantitative evidence and offers policy recommendations to support the strategic integration of technological and industrial innovation.
Lecturer Gong Xiaochen’s paper, “Explaining the Size of China’s Nonprofit Sector: A fsQCA Analysis of 30 Cities,” has been accepted for presentation in the Public and Nonprofit (PNP) division at the 2025 Academy of Management Annual Meeting. Using fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA), the study investigates the combinational pathways and critical factors that shape the growth of China’s nonprofit sector. The research contributes to the theoretical understanding of nonprofit development and offers empirical evidence to support local governments in formulating differentiated policies to foster nonprofit organizations.
