1. Overview

The Department of Foreign Languages has continued to advance teaching through innovation, aligning its work with ongoing reforms in foreign language education and the demand for globally-oriented talents. Focusing on key areas such as College English, Academic English, curriculum ideological and political education, and AI-enhanced language instruction, the department has carried out sustained research and practice. These efforts have gradually established a long-term mechanism for the coordinated development of “teaching and research”, supports the ongoing integration of scientific research to classroom teaching practices, and strengthens educational reform and teaching quality.

2. Academic Research Projects

The faculty has led or participated in more than twenty initiatives, including provincial and ministerial level projects, education foundation projects, university-level projects, and industry-sponsored collaborative projects. Together, they form a well-structured, multi-tiered system that advances research and teaching reform in a coordinated way. These projects span both undergraduate and graduate education across multiple educational levels, addressing key themes such as innovative teaching models, curriculum refinement, reform of assessment practices, and deeper integration of digital technologies into instruction. The findings from these projects have been progressively integrated into curriculum development and teaching practices, contributing to improved talent cultivation.

3. Research Papers

The teaching faculty has published more than fifty papers in national and international journals, including several in core Chinese and international publications. Their research covers diagnostic assessment, blended learning, translation studies, teacher development, and linguistic inquiry. These studies focus on core issues in foreign language education, integrate theoretical inquiry with methodological innovation, and have made significant contributions to both academic research and practical development in related fields. They also showcase the team’s solid academic foundation and strong research capabilities.

4. Academic Monographs and Textbooks

The faculty has published more than thirty textbooks and scholarly monographs in recent years. covering areas such as language-teaching research, College English, graduate English, and continuing-education English. Published by authoritative national presses, some of these works have been selected into the “14th Five-Year Plan” national textbook series and adopted by multiple universities with repeated reprints, establishing a solid presence in college-level teaching.

5. Future Development Priorities

In summary, the Department of Foreign Languages has established a virtuous cycle in which research informs teaching and teaching, in turn, advances research, as evidenced by its achievements in funded projects, academic publications, and textbook development. Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the department will continue to pursue both problem-oriented and demand-driven priorities, deepen teaching reform, strengthen research-led innovation, and further expand its academic influence.
