1. Overview

The Department of Public Administration has made significant progress in research project applications, publication of high-level papers, publication of academic monographs, as well as policy consultation and think-tank outputs. Faculty members lead projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Fund, and the Beijing Social Science Fund. Research directions are closely aligned with key public administration issues such as digital government, social governance, energy resilience, elderly care services, and academic entrepreneurship, and faculty members maintain sustained, in-depth engagement in related fields.

Regarding academic outputs, faculty members have published numerous papers in important journals indexed in CSSCI, SSCI, SCI, Peking University Core, and Chinese Core Journals. A batch of theoretically innovative and policy-valuable achievements have been made in areas like public administration, digital governance, philanthropy and social psychology, and urban resilience. Monographs on issues such as private sector development, social integration, and public policy have also been published for a stronger support for discipline construction.

In the area of policy consulting, multiple research outcomes have been adopted by national ministries, provincial governments, and major internal reference media. These include instructions from state-level leaders and the adoption of research by People’s Daily internal briefings, and these outcomes underscore the department’s contribution to national governance and public policy development.

These projects address contemporary societal needs and demonstrate strong academic creativity and research capabilities.

SSCI/SCI journals: Acta Psychologica, BMC Public Health, Journal of Cleaner Production, iScience, Journal of Industrial Ecology, etc.

Core and influential academic journals: Theoretical Exploration, E-Government, China Chemical Industry News, Science and Technology Daily (Theory Edition), Chinese Social Sciences Today, etc.

Research topics cover digital government governance, policy diffusion, urban resilience and energy risks, philanthropic behavior, aging governance and the digital divide, university academic entrepreneurship and technology transfer, green consumption, and low-carbon behavior. The large volume, high quality, and broad disciplinary coverage of the publications highlight the department’s strong research productivity.
