To thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, consolidate and expand the results of thematic education, and fulfill the requirements of party discipline education, on May 24, three Party Branches from the administrative sector, Department of Social Sports and Department of English, under the College of Humanities and Law, visited the National Ice and Snow Sports Research and Training Base at Beijing Sport University. Following the inspection route of General Secretary Xi Jinping from January 2022, they aimed to understand the importance of education in strengthening the country, appreciate the role of technology in empowering sports, and draw inspiration from the Olympic spirit to unite and drive forward their efforts.

During the fifth group study session of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of prioritizing high-quality development in building a strong education system. He pointed out that constructing a strong nation in education, technology, and talent are inherently consistent and mutually supportive tasks. These three elements should be integrated and advanced together to create a multiplier effect that promotes high-quality development. In line with this vision, over thirty members, including party members, active applicants for party membership, and student party members from the administrative sector, Department of Social Sports and Department of English in the College of Humanities and Law, organized a joint study and a themed party day event titled “Understanding the Power of Technology, Uniting the Power of Progress.” They visited the National Ice and Snow Sports Research and Training Center at Beijing Sport University, where they toured the six-degree-of-freedom laboratory, wind tunnel hall, speed skating hall, and physical fitness hall.

In the six-degree-of-freedom laboratory, the “Hongqi” domestically-produced snow vehicle used in the electric simulation sports training system for winter projects fully demonstrates the “BUCT wisdom” and “BUCT contribution.” When the guide introduced that “the National Key Laboratory of Organic-Inorganic Composite Materials at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) led the National Key R&D Program ‘Technology Winter Olympics’ – a key special project on high-performance equipment for winter sports carbon fiber composites, developing the country’s first two-man carbon fiber bobsled prototype and achieving a breakthrough in domestic bobsled equipment from ‘0 to 1,’” the teachers were greatly encouraged and inspired. They realized that only by actively organizing interdisciplinary, cross-field, and international learning, research, and industrial activities can they expand the scope and vision of scientific research, strengthen complementary advantages, and foster collaborative innovation. Additionally, consolidating cooperation among universities, government, and enterprises, and enhancing research-production collaboration, the integration of science and education, and the fusion of industry and education, is essential to continuously improve the innovation, industry, talent, policy, and funding chains, thereby creating an ecosystem for cultivating top-notch innovative talent.

The delegation from the College of Humanities and Law also visited the comprehensive wind tunnel laboratory, indoor speed skating hall, and physical fitness center. They observed that both the training and competition systems, as well as the recovery and regeneration equipment, were developed and supported by scientists and teams from various universities and research institutes. The participants deeply felt the commitment of these scientists and their teams to national interests, their sense of responsibility, their patriotic spirit, their unity and collaboration, their tenacity, and their innovative efforts in overcoming challenges. Their dedication and hard work in fulfilling the tasks of the Winter Olympics embody the realization of the “dream of a strong nation” through concrete actions.
