A New Chapter Begins: BUCT School of Humanities and Law Holds First-Ever Alumni Association Meeting

  On January 4, the School of Humanities and Law at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) held the inaugural meeting of its Alumni Association in the Academic Lecture Hall of the High-End Innovation Building on the East Campus. Song Laixin, Deputy Secretary of the BUCT Party Committee, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

    On behalf of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Song Laixin extended a warm welcome to returning alumni and congratulated them on the official establishment of the School of Humanities and Law Alumni Association. In his remarks, he expressed three key aspirations for the association’s future development:

1.      Foster meaningful communication among alumni to cultivate a close-knit community that supports emotional connection and professional growth.

2.      Enhance collaboration between alumni and the university by building dynamic platforms for shared development and long-term success.

3.      Align the association’s mission with national economic and social priorities by promoting BUCT’s story and encouraging alumni to contribute their wisdom and dedication to the country’s advancement.



Flag Presentation to the Alumni Association


During the meeting, Professor Zhang Jianwei, head of the school, delivered a comprehensive overview of the recent developments at the School of Humanities and Law. He highlighted the school’s notable achievements in discipline building, faculty development, scientific research, international collaboration, and student academic development. Particular emphasis was placed on the school’s ongoing progress in legal education and research in the humanities and social sciences. His address not only reflected the school’s dynamic growth but also conveyed a firm belief in a future of close cooperation and shared success with alumnifurther strengthening their sense of pride and belonging.

The General Alumni Association of BUCT then announced the official approval for the establishment of the School of Humanities and Law Alumni Association, along with the proposed list of its inaugural council members. The school presented a report on the association’s preparation process and organizational structure. The meeting formally reviewed and adopted the Constitution of the Alumni Association of the School of Humanities and Law, BUCT. This was followed by a flag presentation ceremony and the awarding of appointment letters to council members.

Zhang Liang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities and Law and the newly elected president of the alumni association, expressed sincere gratitude to all attending leaders, guests, and alumni. He expressed the hope that the association would serve as a communication bridge, promote resource sharing, and contribute to the development of both alumni and the university—working together to create an even brighter future for the School of Humanities and Law.

Gao Weibo, a 2003 Law major and alumni representative, delivered a speech recalling his memorable experiences as a student and expressing heartfelt gratitude to his alma mater and former teachers. He pledged that alumni would actively support the association’s work, unite their strengths, give back to the university, and contribute to the development of the School of Humanities and Law.

In the future, the Alumni Association of the School of Humanities and Law will actively build bridges for communication among alumni, serve them with greater enthusiasm and initiative, and work together to write a new chapter in the development of the university.
