On the afternoon of June 16, the College of Humanities and Law of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) held its 2025 Master’s Degree Conferment Ceremony at the Qiu Zhen Lecture Hall, Changping Campus.

The ceremony was attended by Gan Zhihua, Member of the CPC BUCT Standing Committee and Vice President; Zhang Liang, Party Secretary of the College; Zhang Jianwei, Dean of the College; along with other college leaders, faculty representatives, members of the Class of 2025 master’s graduates, and parent representatives. Vice Dean Xu Jun presided over the event.

Before the ceremony, faculty and students gathered at the lecture hall entrance for group photos to capture this memorable moment.

At 1:30 p.m., the ceremony officially began with Vice Dean Xu Jun introducing the attending leaders and faculty representatives, followed by the solemn national anthem sung by all attendees.

Vice President Gan Zhihua delivered heartfelt remarks, acknowledging that the graduates have grown up during a transformative era of rapid technological development and national progress. He expressed three hopes for the Class of 2025:
First, remain true to your original aspirations and fulfill your mission by aligning personal growth with the nation’s development, and by practicing the core values of socialism. Second, embrace lifelong learning and the pursuit of excellence. In a time of constant change, continue to learn, stay curious, and be courageous in innovation. Third, maintain optimism and resilience. Meet future challenges with a positive mindset and unwavering determination.

Dean Zhang Jianwei, on behalf of all faculty, congratulated the graduates and extended sincere gratitude to all mentors, parents, and educators. He shared three messages to inspire the graduates:
First, uphold the motto “Cultivate with culture, govern with law,” nurturing moral character and fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to scholars in humanities and law scholars.
Second, remain diligent and responsible, applying professional expertise to serve society, protect people’s rights, and shoulder the mission of the times.
Third, let youth be the oar and innovation the sail, seizing opportunities through dedication and scaling peaks of life with creativity and passion.

Professor Yu Jun, speaking as the faculty representative, warmly congratulated the graduates. Reflecting on his own journey since graduating 20 years ago, he offered parting words inspired by the term “Intellectual Property.” He encouraged graduates to navigate their paths with “knowledge,” illuminate their journey with “wisdom,” build solid foundations with “productivity,” and measure their progress with “rights,” forging ahead courageously in the waves of the times.

Graduate representative Cao Wenzhe expressed his heartfelt gratitude in three parts: to the university and professors for their dedicated guidance, to classmates for their support and friendship, and to family for their unwavering encouragement. He reflected on how BUCT has taught students to remain steadfast in the face of distractions and seek truth amidst the overload of information. He called on fellow graduates to carry the torch of history forward and integrate personal ambitions into the great rejuvenation of the nation.

Following the speeches, Secretary Zhang Liang announced the list of Outstanding Graduates, and Dean Zhang Jianwei read out the names of students awarded academic and professional master’s degrees for the Class of 2025.

Leaders and faculty representatives then conferred degree certificates to the graduates, marking a proud new milestone in their academic journey.

May the 2025 graduates of the College of Humanities and Law soar with culture as their wings and stand firm with law as their shield. May they transform knowledge into power, shine on the grand stage of rule of law and humanities, embrace challenges with passion, and write their own brilliant chapters in life’s journey!
